I’m nerdy about my fair share of things. Star Wars isn’t one of them. But this is an estates blog and arrangements need to be made to take care of Baby Yoda should anything happen.
Truth is, whenever the AAE schedule comes out, the first thing I do is sign up for any Thursdays that fall on special days. April Fools’, Halloween, the 4th of July. I’ve done them all. Every year on May 4, Star Wars fans worldwide get together to celebrate their fandom. Am I enough of a fan to do a post on Star Wars Day? I like to research my blog ideas and I’ve gone down an internet rabbit hole which has made me 10% nerdier. But don’t invite me to your trivia night or 18 hour movie marathons just yet. Here goes nothing:
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…..
What would estate planning look like?
- A Jedi values knowledge, so setting up a charitable foundation makes perfect sense. But they also don’t really own stuff and are probably broke
- How about the bad guys in the Sith? Jerks need wills too. Testamentary freedom is important but when someone devotes their life and legacy to hate, greed and deception, their wills will probably be held void due to violating public policy
- These characters like to change their names and not tell anybody. Are you Anakin or Darth Vader? Obi-Wan or Ben Kenobe?
- The Force is confusing and government issued photo ID is a legal requirement. Can you please remove your helmet Mr. Vader?
- Jar Jar Binks strikes me as the type of guy to challenge a will. Everyone wants to forget about him and cut him out
- If a Testator keeps talking about how “The Force” is all around us and how it directs our actions, do you think the will would survive a capacity challenge?
- Distribution of Lightsabers: A Jedi’s most prized possession is their lightsaber. In their will, a Jedi might specify whether it should go to a member of the Jedi Order or to a trusted Padawan. Oh, he gifted me a purple one? Anyone want to trade?

My question on your post. Will Jedi or Sith be able to will their lightsaber to anyone or will it fall under the new Liberal Prohibited weapon legislation: thus, forcing families to retrofit kitchen blenders with the technology prior to death allowing the legal transfer. May not be handy in an intergalactic battle but mmmmmm the Pina Colada’s it could make at those Outer Rim hideaway taverns…. I am ready if the Mandolorian comes a knocking for estate advice. My Question is under Mandolorian Way is Grogu a Crownward. MMMM we need to talk about that.
