Posthumous Blogging

The last post made by a British Columbia blogger who was suffering from terminal colorectal cancer has garnered worldwide attention.

A recent CBC article describes how Derek Miller’s last post to his blog, published by a friend after his death on May 4th, has received more than 8 million hits and has been spread throughout the world on other blogs and social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook.

In his “Last Post”, which was expressly written for publication following his death, Mr. Miller speaks very movingly about his life, his death and his love and appreciation for his family.

The attention garnered by Mr. Miller’s Last Post and the emotion that it has generated suggest that others may turn to posthumous blogging as a way to relay final messages to family members, friends and the greater community.

Thanks
